Relying on the Three Thousand Daoist scriptures, Chen Changsheng embarks on a journey of cultivation and triumph. He defeats Tianhai Ya'er at the Qing Teng Banquet, triumphs against the Seven Laws of the Divine Kingdom at the Weiyang Palace, and, together with his companions Tang Thirty-Six, Luo Luo, and Xuan Yuanpo, fights his way to the top of the Grand Examination, only to learn that changing his fate is as difficult as ascending to heaven. Lost and confused, Chen Changsheng witnesses the fall of the legendary Xun Mei at the Heavenly Book Mausoleum, inspiring him to continue. During a battle with the demons at Zhou Garden, he encounters Xu Yourong in disguise. The two become inseparable, overcoming life and death together to thwart the demons' plot, falling in love, only to be separated by the collapse of Zhou Garden.
